“I had an excellent experience working with Kevin Lash (Owner of Hawaii Wedding Photo). He was able to capture my wedding day as I had always imagined.
One of the things I really liked...is that he gives you the rights to all the digital pictures he takes so you can keep them forever, make copies of the CD, and get as many prints as you would like in the future...
Everything turned out beautifully...I highly recommend Hawaii Wedding Photo.”

Digital Photography is the medium of choice at Hawaii Wedding Photo for many reasons primarily; Quality, Flexibility, Faster Turnaround Times and Convenience:
QualityIn today’s market we are finding that newer professional Digital SLR camera’s offer image quality that is equal to – and in some cases greater – than a 35mm negative shot with professional films.
A Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex camera) allows for greater
flexibility while shooting from many aspects; your photographer can instantly
view the image after taking it and make on the spot adjustments if needed,
there is no need to use on the lens special effects filters or certain films
to capture the perfect shot for the moment. There are on camera settings
that allow for better exposure in low-light situations with no more degradation
to the image than when using films rated for these same lighting conditions. After
the image is shot is when the greatest flexibility comes in; filtering affects
or converting a color image to black and white is simple when done by a skilled
photo editor. ‘Conversions’ are a term I use to describe how an image can be changed
or ‘converted’ to have a different look after it has been captured
in its original color file state - this can include a water color image (see photo directly above), Infrared Black and White and Multiple Sepia tones. I typically create these for the album designs but do include them on your final disc at no additional charge.
Once your wedding is over there is no need to take the film to a lab or self-develop the film for processing. We are able to begin working on your images immediately. You will get a collage on our Blog from your Wedding, Event or Vow renewal in 1-2 days. We will have a completed ALBUM for you to view online usually in three-five days that you can share with your family, friends and guests. We take great pride in these online books that you will be able to order with or without changes. We are sure you will rave about the convenience of seeing your Wedding or Event in story form within just a few days and this album will stay online indefinitely if you complete your order within ninety days. We will also provide you with an online prooring source so you can view all your images within one - two weeks of your wedding.

Kevin Lash, owner and principal photographer of Hawaii Wedding Photo, had the following to say about the advantages of Digital photography over film:
“I find the freedom of Digital to be extremely liberating. I don’t have to worry about the lab mishandling my film or making other potentially disastrous errors. What I am able to create with a simple digital image is beyond the imagination and has endless creative possibilities. This is an art form in and of itself. The most amazing advantag e of shooting digital is that when I shoot with a digital camera it is as though I have every type of film in t he c amera I could possibly want, every filter on the len s I could desire and every developing method of the negative and print at my disposal …with digital I am able to do whatever I want after viewing the image and create the perfect photograph, which can often be a beautiful work of art.”
Digital
cameras use a sensor that reads pixels where a film transfers the image to
the film emulsion. When shooting with
a digital SLR camera both cameras function the same way in how light is read
to the sensor as opposed to the light exposing the film. Emulsion converts
to grain therefore grain is essentially the same as pixels. Digital
cameras are rated by mega-pixels – one mega-pixel equals one million
pixels. There are many professional cameras on the market today starting
at 4 mega-p
ixels going up to 18 mega-pixels. Most professional photographers
use cameras in the 4-8 mega-pixel range where the average consumer camera
is 3-4 mega-pixels. One major misconception is that the more meg
a-pixels
the better. In fact, a rating of 3 mega-pixels is more than acceptable
on a professional digital SLR because the most important component of the
camera is the chip ‘sensor’ and these vary greatly in quality
between consumer and professional models and even to some degree between
professional models. Hawaii Wedding Photo uses newer professional
digital SLR cameras with the highest quality senor chips and a minimum rating
of 6.2 mega pixels.
Another important consideration is that negatives are fragile, eventually fade and are costly to reproduce, not to mention that even the best labs cannot reproduce a negative with the exact same quality as the original. I recommend a safe deposit box or similar type of storage for your wedding negatives as they are a family heirloom and will last longer in this type of environment. However, with digital, you can back-up your CD as often and as many times as you want without losing any of the quality from the original. In this respect your images can live on for many generations long after you have passed them on to your children and they theirs and so on…this is not possible with negatives.
